Rumor: Cadillac F1 honing in on Sergio Pérez, Valtteri Bottas

Home » Rumor: Cadillac F1 honing in on Sergio Pérez, Valtteri Bottas

We’re only halfway through the 2025 Formula One season, but with the summer break fast approaching, teams are starting to formalize plans for next year. That includes one garage that has yet to be added to the grid.

Next year, not only will Audi join the lineup, taking over for KICK Sauber, but a second American team is on the horizon, with Cadillac set to become the 11th team on the grid. So the big question is: who will steer the American automaker’s F1 inaugural squad?

While nothing has been announced, rumors started swirling on Monday morning that the General Motors subsidiary has honed in on two drivers: Sergio Pérez (AKA ‘Checo’) and Valtteri Bottas.

Both veteran drivers have been out of the garage this season, with Pérez not finding a seat after a relatively successful stint with Red Bull. Of course, Bottas was known for racing alongside Lewis Hamilton as he accrued championship after championship with Mercedes.

If you’re to believe the rumors, Pérez appears closer to a done deal than Bottas, whereas Bottas is merely a finalist at this juncture.

What’s likely is that we’ll get some kind of announcement as to Cadillac’s plans, beyond just its driving pair, sometime in August during the summer break. But before then, we do have two races: the Belgian Grand Prix and the Hungarian Grand Prix.
