It would be a dream for any thrill-seeker, but particularly for those who love F1 racing, to get behind the wheel of one of the 20 most advanced machines ever created. And though it had appeared that movie star Brad Pitt had done just that with the making of the F1 movie, he actually was driving a retrofitted Formula Two car.
But he got a chance to drive the really real deal after the release of Apple’s blockbuster.
The official Formula One channel on YouTube released a must-watch featurette, where McLaren CEO Zak Brown gave his blessing to Pitt to drive one of the beautiful stallions in his livery. Pitt was given a quick tutorial from a mixture of the pit crew and star driver Lando Norris in Austin, Texas at the Circuit of the Americas. What ensued was both a dream as well as a must-watch.
You can tell that Pitt was really touched by the experience. As I would be, too. I might have only had a few weeks of being completely enamored by Formula One racing, but there’s nothing that sounds cooler to me than being able to get into the monocoque of one of the fastest road machines with perhaps the best engineering outside of something that goes outside of earth’s atmosphere.
F1 is currently in theaters.
